This phenomenon poses a serious challenge to the institution of independent central banking, according to Andrew Bailey, Governor of the Bank of England.
Bailey made his comments at a conference at the London School of Economics, where he warned that populist politics can erode the legitimacy of central banks if they are not careful in explaining their decisions to the public.
