The Shadowy World of Hack for Hire Firms: A Threat to National Security and Free Speech A bipartisan group of lawmakers has asked the US government to ban several companies accused of carrying out cyberattacks on behalf of paying clients.
In a letter sent to Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, they have identified BellTroX, CyberRoot, and Sunkissed Organic Farms (formerly Appin) as being linked to egregious examples of hack for hire activity.
These firms have used their cyberattack services to manipulate ongoing litigation and silence whistleblowers, undermining national security and free speech.
