The Loaded Gun: A Decade of Dithering in Colombia Colombia's new president, Abelardo de la Espriella, has signed a decree easing restrictions on carrying legal firearms in public.

This move reverses a 2015 restriction that had been in place for nearly a decade and is being framed as a fulfillment of de la Espriella's campaign promise to empower law abiding citizens.

The new decree allows those with permits to carry guns to take them out of their homes without additional authorization, expanding the rights of over 700,000 Colombians who already hold such permits.
